Hello! Welcome to the Vulcan
Cheerleader's Homepage. Our squad this year consist of eleven people five
of which are freshman. We are traditionally a co-ed squad but due to some
unexpected circumstances we lost most of our male counterparts. We are
now in a rebuilding stage and are starting to pull together nicely.
The Sport of Cheerleading
Many people think that cheerleading
is just a bunch of girls jumping around and yelling. Considered by some
an activity not worthy of being classified as a sport. Unlike other seasonal
sports, our season starts in the middle of August, approximately two weeks
before school starts and doesn't end until the middle of April. Cheerleading
is a sport which involves precision, timing, flexibility, cooperation,
and lots of hard work. Instead of throwing a little ball we throw
a girl. We don't just run down a court or across a field we tumble across
it doing intricate flips. If a ball player doesn't catch his ball he stops
and picks it up. If we miss a falling person you better call for an ambulance.
If you're not willing to jump it, throw it, catch
it, stick it, double-take it. You might as well not even tryout!
